SAP Green Token Launched as Generally Available!

On behalf of the entire SAP Sustainability team, we are pleased to announce that the sustainability solution SAP Green Token is now Generally Available (GA) as part of the Digital Supply Chain (DSC) portfolio.

What does that mean? Well, it means that the SAP Green Token solution is now available as a standard solution to SAP customers and partners. With the high SAP standards being fully baked into the core solution.

If this is your first time hearing about SAP Green Token, say no more! Welcome to SAP Green Token 101. 😉

SAP Green Token is a software-as-a-service cloud solution that supports material traceability and transparency with segregation or mass balancing, tokenization, and a blockchain-based chain of custody for trust, improved efficiency, and compliance with recognized standards and regulations.

In short… SAP Green Token enables companies to proof that the materials they source, and sell are truly certified sustainable. ✔️

Key capabilities include:

• Scalable mass balance and segregated accounting and reporting to ensure continuous compliance with evolving standards and regulations such as EUDR, RSPO and ISCC 🌴📦🛒
• Holistic declaration management for various schemes and scopes
• Rapid adoption at scale for all types of organizations through integration with SAP and non-SAP systems, and CSV exports. 💻

The ones familiar with the solution may know that Green Token has been around for a few years. The incubation of Green Token has been a journey of a lifetime. Let’s briefly reflect on a few core milestones.

• 2019: the concept behind SAP Green Token wins ‘1 Billion Lives’: SAP’s flagship social intrapreneurship program that aims to improve 1 billion lives through a portfolio impact ventures.
• April 2020: SAP Green Token joins SAP.io as an internal venture. The goal? To proof the concept at scale and go from innovation to activation, to transformation. And so we did in the years to come…
• 2020-2022: the team worked with over 50+ industry leaders and organizations to validate, improve and innovate on the solution. A special thank you to our early innovators such as Unilever, DIC Chemicals, and our Chemicals & Packaging pilot groups.
• September 2022: SAP Green Token transitions from SAP.io to SAP Sustainability.
• 2023-2024: Achieved the first go-lives and enabled +150 experts world-wide from SAP partners and employees across regions. Including Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte, KPMG and Osh Pro.
• June 2024: Officially launched the solution as Generally Available

Going forward, the team will continue to release new features and functionalities, increase the list of standard use-cases, and further ramp up the SAP eco-system.
