Process design and standardization for SAP Digital Supply Chain Cloud Solutions in SAP Signavio

Introduction

When starting with an implementation project for your digital core of SAP S/4HANA, there is best practice content at your disposal for various Line of Business scope items, each containing accelerators for your project in the form of process flows, test scripts, etc.

For our cloud based Digital Supply Chain solutions that same level of detail is not available as a best practice offering, but we are looking to bridge that gap with standardized process content in the form of a Value Accelerator Library package that is available within SAP Signavio.

This content can then be used as a baseline when executing Fit-to-Standard workshops during the Explore phase of a project.  The provided process flows can be used as a starting point and then enhanced with additional steps in Signavio based on the user stories applicable for each customer.

This VAL package includes content for the following SAP Digital Supply Chain solutions:

• SAP Product Lifecycle Management
• SAP Digital Manufacturing
• SAP Asset Performance Management
• SAP Field Service Management.

By using the SAP Reference Business Architecture as the framework, we can assign the business processes that are executed in each of the Digital Supply Chain solutions to the appropriate Business Process Model in the RBA.

How to install the VAL package

Note:  your user must have Administrator access to the Signavio workspace in order to install the content.

• Starting from the Process Collaboration Hub after signing in to Signavio, go to the Value Accelerator Library to search for the DSC package.

• Search for the appropriate package using the filter criteria available.  For example, in the case of the DSC content, you can search for SAP as the publisher, SAP Signavio Process Manager as the content, and Plan to Fulfill (P2P) as the Process.

• Once the package is opened, click on the Install button on the top right corner to start the installation of the VAL package.

• When prompted for the target workspace where the content will be installed, select the appropriate workspace.  If you do not have the Administrator role and are not able to install the content to this workspace, you will be notified at this point.

• Continue with the remaining prompts to start the installation.  Once the installation is started, you will see the status of the installation displayed and can check with the installation has been completed.

• Once it has been completed, the content will not be available in the Shared Documents folder.

How to use and modify the content during projects

Once the content has been installed in the Shared Folders, the process flow diagrams can be modified in the Signavio editor to tailor the processes to the customer requirements.
