In this blog, I would like to share the latest updates on the new migration guide that was released for supporting customers and consultants during planning the migration from SAP ERP LE-WM or SAP S/4HANA Stock Room Management to EWM on S/4HANA.

Additionally, I would like to clear up some confusion about end dates of usage rights and mainstream maintenance for SAP LE-WM.

LE-WM Roadmap - Important Dates:
Let's start with the SAP LE-WM roadmap and timeline, as this is mainly dependent on the ERP solution release on which LE-WM is running.

  • LE-WM on ERP ECC:
SAP will provide mainstream maintenance until 31.12.2027 for SAP Business Suite 7 core applications, refer to SAP Note 2881788 for details.

  • LE-WM on ERP S/4HANA:
SAP restricts the usage of components which are in a compatibility mode until 31.12.2025, refer to SAP Notes 2269324, 2881166, and 2577428 for details.

Migration Guide Overview:
In this migration guide you will find information about:

  • General Process Changes between LE-WM and EWM
  • System Setup Guides
  • Organizational Structure
  • Customizing Settings for Product Master
  • Define Handling Unit Management
  • Storage Bin Migration
  • Putaway and Stock Removal
  • Material Master Migration
  • Transactional Data Migration
  • Stock Migration
  • Physical Inventory Completeness Migration

Out of Scope:

  • In general, transactional data is not transferred from LE-WM to EWM. So no documents can be open when the migration starts. For more information, see Transactional Data Migration.
  • Existing RF transactions are not transferred automatically from LE-WM to EWM.
  • System users and the related authorization roles and profiles are not transferred automatically from LE-WM to EWM.
  • The existing migration tools do not migrate Customizing. Due to the broader functionality in EWM, the Customizing differs from LE-WM. For more information, see General Process Changes between LE-WM and EWM.
  • Customer-specific objects are not transferred
