This blog should clarify some frequently asked questions about SAP Cloud Integration updates for SAP Digital Manufacturing (DM). SAP Cloud Integration is often still referred to as CPI (Cloud Plattform Integration) just in case you are more familiar with that naming.

  • What is the update schedule for Cloud Integration?
Cloud Integration is updated monthly. Past changes can be found on this SAP Help page, and SAP Note 3418154 provides the release calendar.

  • How can I be informed about the timing and changes coming with the Cloud Integration update?
If you want to be informed about future updates, you may subscribe to mail notifications in SAP for Me, as described in Support Note 2900069. It works the same way as you have subscribed to the notifications for your DM tenant.

  • Is there a software version differentiation between Cloud Platform Integration in QUAL and PROD landscapes during the DM release cycle?
No, there is no differentiation between QUAL and PROD software releases. All customer Cloud Integration tenants are considered to be productive tenants and upgraded at the same time by SAP. See this SAP Help page for details on quality assurance of Cloud Integration. If you have critical custom integration flows you may ask SAP to add them to the regression test suit (See details on this SAP Help page).

  • What does this mean to the DM release cycle?
You don’t need to update the Cloud Integration itself when a new DM release is deployed into your tenant. However, you should update the integration content provided with the release.
When performing this task, you should be very cautious and aware of the role of the tenant you are updating. As the Cloud Integration does not distinguish QUAL and PROD, the DM Integration package update is available in all Cloud Integration tenants after the QUAL release of DM, you may accidentally perform the update in PROD when the new DM version is not yet available in PROD.

  • Where do I find the changes of the SAP DM integration content?
This Note 3315636 provides a detailed change log for the SAP DM integration content. It also refers to this Note 3509096 providing some additional FAQs to the standard content.

  • Are there additional points to consider?
As described in the support best practices for SAP DM, customers should make sure the integration package is up-to-date (see ST-21 of SAP Note 3323881). If you perform this update, also merge the updated standard XSLTs into your custom XSLTs to ensure changes in the standard XSLT are incorporated into your implementation.
