VAS (Value Added Services) used to add value into products when they are received or while dispatching products to End Customer. In SAP EWM mostly we observe the VAS is followed in Inbound processes before Putaway.
But if customer doesn't want to perform VAS while receiving the products or during the dispatch process. Rather VAS to be performed internally in a Warehouse and those products will be stored in Final Bins, and from where it will be picked to fulfil customer order without any delay. This process is extensively observed in 3PL Fulfilment Centers of Automotive, Garment, Food and Processing Industries.
This blog is intended to showcase the VAS process handled with Internal VAS order in SAP EWM.
Business Scenario: Product will be received in a warehouse and store directly into Final Storage types. VAS should be performed internally in a warehouse and after that products will be stored in picking area so that they are ready for dispatch as per order.
Configuration:
1) Define VAS Order type for Internal Processes
SCM EWM > EWM > Cross-Process Settings > Value-Added Services (VAS) > Define Order Types for VAS for Internal Warehouse Processes
2) Define Document type and Item Type for Internal Stock Transfer
SCM EWM > EWM > Internal Warehouse Processes > Delivery Processing > Stock Transfers > Define Document Types for the Stock Transfer Process
SCM EWM > EWM > Internal Warehouse Processes > Delivery Processing > Stock Transfers > Define Item Types for the Stock Transfer Process
3) Define Warehouse Process Type
SCM EWM > EWM > Cross-Process Settings > Warehouse Task > Define Warehouse Process Type
4) Define Work Center
SCM EWM > EWM > Master Data > Work Center > Define Work Center
5) Define Process-Oriented Storage Control
SCM EWM > EWM > Cross Process Settings > Warehouse Task > Define Process-Oriented Storage Control
i) Storage Process- Definition
ii) Assign Storage Process Steps
iii) Process- Oriented Storage Control
6) Define Putaway Strategies
SCM EWM > EWM > Goods Receipt Process > Strategies > Storage Type Search > Specify Storage Type Search Sequence for Putaway
- This is maintained to perform IB03 (Putaway) step to store products in storage type after VAS, from where the products will be picked. In STSS assign the storage types where the stock will be moved after VAS.
7) Warehouse Order Creation Rule
SCM EWM > EWM > Cross Process Settings > Warehouse Order > Define Creation Rules for Warehouse Orders
-Define WOCR and assign storage process to it. 8 ) Determine WOCR
SCM EWM > EWM > Cross Process Settings > Warehouse Order > Define Search Sequence of Creation Rules for Activity Areas
Master Data:
i) Create Storage Bins and Assign to Work Center (/N/SCWM/TWORKST)
ii) Maintain Packaging Specifications (/N/SCWM/PACKSPEC)
- Create Packspec and maintain condition records.
- Maintain Levels and Packaging materials which will be used at each level. Also maintain external step at each level.
iii) Maintain Product master (/N/SCWM/MAT1)
- Maintain check box to consume Auxiliary material while repacking into new Plastic Tray bin from Box.
iv) Assign Storage Bins for VAS Consumption Posting (/N/SCWM/73000001)
Testing:

b) Perform VAS Step. Once step is performed VAS order status for Workcenter 1 will be completed and we can move pallet to next workcenter. Select pallet and click on Complete process step for HU.
A Warehouse task is created automatically for moving material to next workstation. User should confirm this task manually.
Viii) Execute VAS 2nd step
a) Go to second VAS Workcenter (/N/SCWM/VASEXEC) and execute.
b) Perform VAS Step.
- Click on Start, Enter Packaging material to repack product into Plastic tray bin. Repack product and HU label will be generated in background automatically and we can paste HU Label on tray bin. Click on End Process and save.
