Personalized object worklists (POWLs) are a major part of the day-to-day life of any SAP user, whether a consultant implementing SAP ERP for a client or an end user running their core business processes in SAP.

Users often desire to set up their home page in a particular way, preferring to see information that is most relevant to them, which provides actionable insights to perform their job responsibilities in an efficient manner.

In this blog post, let us see, as a functional consultant, how to quickly configure a new TM POWL query w/o disrupting the standard provided ones and assign it to an existing application and category.

Step 1: Create a query

Go to transaction POWL_QUERY

Standard provided –

Create new –

Provide a query ID and description

Step 2:

Assign SCMTMS_TOR_TO as POWL type ID, which is a standard provided POWL type for freight orders containing its feeder class that is responsible for making the POWL as an interactive report/worklist.

Step 3:

Register the new query with the application ID for freight orders.

Go to transaction POWL_COCKPIT.

Select the application (app) that you want this new query to be registered to and click “Register Query”.

In this case, it’s the Freight Orders – Worklist app.

Add a new entry

You can also register the new query to a security role; a blank role means systemwide assignment.

Activate the query and provide the query, tab, and category sequence.

Step 4:

Validate new query registration; the description from the query is shown with a hyperlink.

Step 5:

Register a new category

Create a new category and provide a description

Update the new category in the query registration

Step 6:

Add query fields to the quick search

I personally like to include administrative fields like Max. No. of Records, Created by, Changed by, Created on, and Changed on fields.

You can also make fields mandatory, read only and hidden.

Click accept.

Step 7:

Provide default/pre-configured parameters.

You can provide default parameters like FO type, Max. no. of records (ex, 999 instead of 500) or Creation type (P –planning or M – manual), etc.

Click Accept.

Query settings and parameters are updated.

There are a lot more POWL features to explore; any feedback/comments are welcome.

Hey! Thank your for this post.

Is there a "quick" possibility to make a custom POWL that gives an overview about PVR-Items (or parameters of it, for example the equipment number)?

So the user opens the POWL, searches for FO and gets the PVR items as a result.

Hello!

There are a few fields available in the standard query parameters explained above in the Resources/Equipment section.

Example Registration No. (PLATENUMBER), but these are only for the active vehicle resource (AVR).

Great blog and help. Thank you.

Just one remark in case you don't see your changes:

After each change, you need to clear the query cache with report POWL_D01, otherwise you don't see the effect.
