Scenario:Default text determination in the GTS Customs declaration document.

We may have a scenario to determine a default text in the Export / Import customs declaration document, which could be used for various purposes, such as to print the legal text on the output of the declaration document. The default text determined on the document could be edited if required before taking the printout.

We will setup the default text to determine in the Import Free circulation Document (Document type: CULOIM):

It's corresponding legal regulation and Default data procedures details are as below:

Legal Regulation: ATLAS

Text Schema : SLLCD_DEIH

Default Data procedure is ZCIDE

Configuration steps to determine the Default text in the Import Customs declaration document

1. Define new Text id: ZT&C under the Text object : SLL_CUHD_C

SPRO -> SAP GTS, edition for SAP HANA -> General Settings -> Text Controls -> Define Text IDs for Foreign Trade- Specific Documents

2. Assign newly created Text id: ZT&C to relevant Text Schema: SLLCT_DEIH

SPRO -> SAP GTS, edition for SAP HANA -> General Settings -> Text Controls -> Define Text Determination Procedures for Documents

3. Add Text id to the Proposed Field in Field list for Default data

Create a New proposed field as H_TX_ZT&C. Here ensure to assign the newely created text id : ZT&C under the Qualifier column, choose the Use as “Text”, Under Field length column we can specify maximum length for the default Text maintenance.

SPRO -> SAP GTS, edition for SAP HANA -> Customs Management -> Procedure for Defaulting Data -> Extend Field list for Data Proposal

4. Assign the Default Text Field list to the relevant Data Procedure

we can identify the Relevant data procedure for the document type by navigating through this path SPRO -> SAP GTS, edition for SAP HANA -> Customs Management -> Procedure for Defaulting Data -> Define Determination Procedure for Defaulting Data

Default Data procedure for our Legal regulation: ATLAS and Document type: CULOIM is ZCIDE

Assign the Target field : H_TX_ZT&C to the relevant Default Data procedure: ZCIDE as shown below:

SPRO -> SAP GTS, edition for SAP HANA -> Customs Management -> Procedure for Defaulting Data ->Define Default Data for Document Fields, Messages, and Documents

5. Maintain the Default text for Field Text id : H_TX_ZT&C via this tcode: /SAPSLL/DPDATA_MNTN (Define Data Defaulting Rules for Document Fields).

6. Default text which we maintained in above step is automatically determined in the import declaration document as shown below:

Conclusion:
To conclude, configuring Default Text Determination in SAP GTS for Export / Import Customs Declaration Documents ensures standardization, compliance, and efficiency in customs declaration processing. By carefully defining text IDs, mapping them to text schemas, and integrating them into the Default Data Procedure, businesses can automatically generate legally required text while retaining the flexibility to edit before printing. This approach streamlines document preparation, reduces manual intervention, and enhances accuracy in global trade operations.

Caveat: With this technique, you can default a maximum of 100 char per text ID.
