Intro
This blog explains the complete configuration flow for integrating SAP QM with decentralized EWM, covering key topics such as inspection lot creation, follow-up action mapping, posting change types, and warehouse task control. Whether you’re implementing EWM for the first time or fine-tuning an existing setup, this guide provides the functional and technical clarity needed for a smooth EWM–QM integration.

Note: Note: For follow-up actions S2CC (Scrap to Cost Center) and SMPC (Sample Consumption), you must assign a cost center when recording the usage decision. You assign the cost center selecting EWM Inspection in the Record Usage Decision app (transaction QA11). To assign or determine a cost center, you must choose EWM Inspection.

To be able to select a cost center in the decentralized EWM system, you need to maintain your cost center in the Administration of Account Assignment Data app (transaction /SCWM/ACC_IMP_ERP). Alternatively, on the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Logistics → SCM Extended Warehouse Management → Extended Warehouse Management → Interfaces → ERP Integration → Administration of Account Assignment Data.

Set Up Master Data Synchronization (EWM) (Optional Step)
New feature added in S/4HANA 1909 that reduces manual effort for maintaining inspection rules in decentralized EWM on S/4HANA. The inspection setup maintained in the material master is distributed to the decentralized EWM system and creates or updates in background required inspection rules.

Navigate to Enterprise Business Applications→Supply Chain→Warehousing→Extended Warehouse Management (EWM)→Quality Management→Quality Management for Decentralized EWM→Master Data Synchronization

You can use the preconfigured settings in the business configuration (BC) set EWM-QM Material MD Synch. for Inbound Processes (/SCWM/QM_MASTER_DATA_SYNC_IDOC). To activate BC Sets, on the launchpad choose Tools→Customizing→Business Configuration Sets→Activation of BC Sets (Transaction SCPR20).

Maintain a partner profile for the logical system (Partner Type LS) in the Partner Profiles app. On the launchpad, choose Logistics→ Logistics Execution→Internal Whse Processes→Communication with External Systems→ALE Administration→Runtime Settings→Partner Profiles (Transaction WE20).

Maintain the inbound parameters for message type MATQM and process code /SCWM/MATQM.
