Use of CPI when integrating S4 and Ariba using CIG

How are standard CPI flows used when we integrate S4 and SAP Ariba network using CIG (Cloud integration Gateway)?

Also why there is need to use CPI when we have CIG to integrate SAP Ariba with S4?

Hi Akash ,

Most the standard content in CPI to integrate with CIG is pass through i.t CPI just acts as middleware to transfer from S4 to CIG and vice versa without any transformation to the data.

CIG itself acts as a middleware when connecting to Ariba solutions i.e Buying/Sourcing/Contract. etc. CIG does have a graphical mapping tool where you can customize your client-specific requirement. So it depends on your client integration standard, whether they can directly expose there ERP system, i.e S4 directly to CIG or need to have another middleware in between them , as technically speaking both are possible.
