Dear SRM-MDM special,
I have to install a SRM landscape, with MDM.
1. I have installed SRM-Server 7.01 (ABAP) on a server.
SID : DM3
Now, I have to install SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 with MDM 7.1.
In the SAP Guide - Component Installation Guide - SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 - I have read :
1. Install the SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java (AS Java).
2. INstall the SAP NetWeaver MDM Components for the SRM-MDM Catalog.
My question :
1. I have installed the SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java (AS Java, SID = DJ3),
with the following Software Units :
1.1. AS-JAVA
1.2. SRM JAVA
1.3. BP-SRM
1.4. BP-SRM-COM
1.5. EP
1.6. EP Core
I will now install SRM-MDM Catalog.
I do not understand one architectural component :
SRM-MDM Catalog, do I have to install using DJ3 (AS-JAVA) as Central Instance ?
I have read that SRM-MDM Catalog is an instance of a SAP System.
To summarize :
1. SRM-ABAP 7.01 ==> DM3
2. SRM-JAVA 7.01 ==> DJ3 (AS-JAVA)
3. SRM-MDM Catalog as instance of DJ3 ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards

Request clarification before answering.
With SRM-MDM Catalog 2.0 the two components
o MDM Server
o MDM Import Server
with version 5.5 can be installed in any directory without assigning a separat SID. The J2EE components were installed in a separat J2EE system.
The new SRM-MDM 3.0 catalog has a different install structure. With the first 3.0 installation you have to select the Install and not the Update. There you have to create a new instance. Under this SID you can see after installation the MDM servers in SAP Management Console (on windows).
After the first install you have to use the Update fundtion, where you have to select the correct instance for update.
Therefore your SRM-MDM catalog will look like:
DJ3 - SRM-MDM catalog 3.0 Java components
DD3 - SRM-MDM catalog 3.0 server components (MDM server)
