SRM: How to save SC in WF without approval/commit?

I have a requirement to make changes in SC and save without approve or commit so it won't continue to the next approval stage.
the user who saved the SC will later be able to approve the WF item.

any suggestions?

Are you using the AC or the PC workflow?

If you are using the process control one, then you just need to use completion workitems. In this case, the approver user can edit the document, make the necessary changes and save them. The workitem will remain in the inbox, so the approver is able to get back to it later and carry out the decision.
