SRM and Portal Connection basic queries

Dear Expert,

I have some basis queries regarding connection between SRM and Portal

1. How SRM and Portal is connected? is it connected through RFC's or other medium.

2. If it is connected through RFC then which RFC connection is used?

3. If I make changes in ppoma_bbp (purchase organization etcs) in SRM, will it direct reflect to Portal? or will have to run some t-codes or report for reflection of data's to portal.
