Reading from SAP PDF with custom font

Is there any way to get the codec you use for custom fonts to read from a PDF directly? I am automating work order reading from a company that receives PDFs generated by one of your products, but the PDF has a custom font. I have tried using OCR but it is rather inaccurate.
