From SRM point of veiw, Middleware is used to replicate the materials, material groups, UoM, currency etc. from R/3 to SRM system.

We have to configure the middleware setup in both SRM as well as R/3 system.

While replicating these, 1st deactive the CRM specific settings via report and do the replication (initial replication).

Reddy Satyanarayan B thx.

Is Middleware only replicating and setting ? I thoght it is a software component within SRM .

Why is middleware always associated with CRM .

Hello Alex

The CRM Server is a central component of the SAP CRM application component in a mySAP CRM solution scenario. The CRM Server contains the CRM Server applications and the CRM Middleware and is based on SAP Web Application Server technology.

After installing the CRM Server, we must perform configuration steps for the CRM Middleware and related application components.

Middleware is software that allows two applications to communicate by messages. The middleware performs routing, queuing, and mapping functions for the message exchange. The applications can run on different platforms and data models. A typical mySAP.com application component that uses middleware is SAP CRM.

Middleware enables the replication, synchronization and distribution of data, for example between a networked branch office and its mobile field sales representatives. CRM Middleware links together the various types of data producers (mobile clients, R/3 back-end systems, Business Information Warehouse, etc.) within a CRM landscape, and provides all components with the necessary information.

Middleware settings associated with communication and Data replication:--

Communication Setup

Set Up Logical Systems

Define Logical System

Assign Logical System to Client

Create RFC Users

Define RFC Destinations

Define Site IDs and Subscription setting

Define Middleware Parameters

Queue Setup

Customizing objects

Hope that answers?
