Hi all,
I have a handful of materials in ECC that seem to be obsolete (these materials have their own unique material number). I'd like to find out if they are physically in use by the company or not. The ones that are not in used, will get deleted and archived. I was advised that some of these materials might still be in use and might be purchased on SRM catalogue. So I'm trying to find a way to figure out if they are purchased on SRM or not.
I understand that material numbers are not required when creating purchase orders on SRM and inventory is not tracked. I was wondering if there was a way for me to find out if the materials I found in ECC are being purchased on SRM?
I have exported a list of materials previously purchased on SRM, and tried to match the material descriptions on SRM to the material descriptions in ECC, but this is impossible as the descriptions in ECC are very different to the descriptions on SRM (material descriptions on SRM are what the vendors call the materials).
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks all.

Generally Indirect procurement handled with SRM and Direct procurement handled with ECC. Mostly material group in ECC is replicated into SRM as product category with a batch job along with a frequency. Additionally product category assigned to G/L account in SRM and on procurement with/without material number can be performed. You may have few non-stock material with material numbers in SRM itself which may be replicated from ECC too!
