Item type is changing automatically while creating or editing a contract

Hi Gurus

we have upgraded our SRM system and now we are facing an issue while creating or editing a contract.

when we are editing or creating a contract , while we enter the product category the item type is product category , however while we click on CHECK the item type is changing to MATERIAL automatically. please help me resolve this issue. The standard practice for our client is the item type should be PRODUCT CATEGORY not MATERIAL in the contract. We are able to change back the item type to PRODUCT CATEGORY, how ever this automatic change should not happen. is there any way to suppress this behavior in the system.

Hi Vivek,

Without debugging, it is not possible to determine the cause. I would suggest setting breakpoints in BBP_PROCDOC_UPDATE and in /SAPPSSRM/LHIER_RULESF08 and check, if the item type is already incorrect there.
