Copy Client for SRM

Dear SAP experts,

Does anyone have experience for copy client for SRM? As you all know, most of the configuration in SRM is related to the backend, and the master data such as plants, vendors, materials/services, also downloaded from ECC. In which in SRM, GUID is created and its related logical system is maintained in the table. Then when we copy client the ECC and its respective SRM, is it possible for us, to only convert the name of the logical system? I see that we can use tcode BDLS, but when we try to run the program and specifying the table to be converted, it doesnt do any update.

Is there a smart way to do the client copy for SRM? Currently everytime we copy client the ECC, we build its respective SRM from scratch (downloading again the vendors, and materials again).

Best regards,

John

Hello John,

As you would seen in your past experience in SRM maximum config is dependent on the logical system names (example AAACLNT400 , where AAA is your SID and 400 is the CLNT). Hence while doing the system copy from one box to another (ie. different servers) keep the SID and the client details same.

By doing so, you have to just go and change the RFc connections details and few config settings where the server details are coming in picture, example SOA web services etc.

This will for sure reduce your effort in getting the SRM system up and running.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Hi John:

There are 2 ways you can do this.

  1. Change the Technical Settings and Logon &Security of your RFC Connection. Do not change the RFC Destination Name.
  2. Run BDLS after copy.

Hope this helps,

Mike
