BBP_ALERTING badi implementation

hi,

I have implemented the BADI BBP_ALERTING.

it is being called in debug when I process PO output from program RSPPFPROCESS.

but it is not accepting the email address I have provided in ct_recipients.

ls_recipients-SMTP_ADDR = 'firstname.lastname@yahoo.cXom'.
append ls_recipients to ct_recipients.

do I need to do any other configuration or any other implementation steps for this?
