Automatic PO Creation from PR ?

Hi Experts,

I am aware that a PO can automatically be created from a PR when appropriate configurations are made in SAP. However i wanted to understand if it is possible to automatically create a PO from a PR only after the PO is approved using the Release Strategy.

Current Scenario:

PR's are approved in the system post which system automatically creates a PO in SAP. (No Additional Approvals for PO Required)

Recommended Scenario:

PR's are approved in the system, post which the system sends the PO for approval using the release strategy and only after all approvals are obtained the system automatically creates the PO.

Let me know if this scenario is possible in SAP.

I'm not quite sure if I have understood your question correctly. The way I see it, is that you want to automatically convert PR into PO, but only if PR is fully released.

If I'm correct, that it should be SAP standard functionality. You can't create a PO against a PR unless PR is fully released. It doesn't matter if PO is created manually or automatically.

Frankly, I've not tried that scenario in a real life implementation as few companies are used PO creation automation. Nevertheless I'd highly surprised if the system doesn't work this way.

Let me put this across with the help of an example

Consider there is a Release Strategy in the system which gets triggered when a PO for Material 'Steel' >1000 USD is raised. The PO is released when it is approved by users X, Y and Z which are maintained in the Release Strategy.

Now if i set the system for Auto PO creation for material 'Steel' i am aware that the system will make the PO for material steel automatically once the PR is released. However, i want the system to automatically make the PO from the PR but not release the PO. I want the PO to be released by the PO release strategy, that is when it is approved by user X, Y and Z as mentioned in the case above. Let me know if such a scenario is possible in the SAP system.
