Ariba Integration

Hello!

I'm a SAP Dev in a small company and my current tank/project is to establish an integration scenario with our first customer via Ariba. They are currently already ordering via Ariba, but we don't have a connecton yet, so we transfer the data from Ariba manually.

I'm a little confused right now. Two weeks ago, I opened an Ariba ticket, because I was not able to find the latest Ariba Network Adapter for SAP NetWeaver. It seems that only the customer side has a DSC contact. Today they finally called me, to answer my ticket, but in the meantime, I found a document that says, that the adapter I was looking for is not longer supported (support ended dec 2021). So the support was telling me, the way to do the integration now is via CIG.

Is there still an integration scenario where PI is involved?
If not, where will I do my complex mappings?
Where do I implement error reporting and monitoring in general?
I don't want to do this in ECC to be honest.

Hello Gerrit,

I would recommend you to read/watch a few videos about CIG; also, I am assuming you are talking about the buyer side.

Long story short, CIG has two main packages.

-CIG Addon, the one that you install on your SAP ERP and configure to send POs + GRs and receive Confirmation, ASN and Invoice.

-CIG Portal, which is the component that you can perform custom mapping and this is a cloud/web based solution.. that said, you would not create mappings on SAP ERP side.

On top of that, you can also have PI on CIG in order to send messages to the CIG Portal.

I would advise to attend a course in the learning hub or read the official CIG documentation at https://help.sap.com/viewer/product/ARIBA_CIG/

thanks for your reply! Your guess was wrong, I'm talking about supplier side 🙂

I will look into CIG, but is this THE way to go? In new integration scenario, is CIG always involved?
You mentioned that PI can be used in top of CIG, that's great.

So if I understand it the right way, CIG and the Ariba Network Adapter for SAP NetWeaver were the 2 ways to do an integration scenario with PI and now CIG is the only way to go.

I hope the SAP Ariba technical support will contact me asap.
