Introduction
When upgrading an SAP Sourcing / CLM customer that has implemented the integration package that was available with SAP Sourcing / CLM 5.1, it’s important to note that the new standard integration now includes logic on the ECC side that prevents the editing, adding or removing of contract line items in ECC for those contracts that originated in SAP Sourcing / CLM. To prevent surprises for the customer, it might be useful to highlight this change as well as what can be done to allow editing of ECC contract line items when necessary.
Typical Scenarios Driving The Need To Edit ECC Contract Line Items
Some customers may have a need to update contract line items in ECC when they are dealing with integrated documents that deal with the following scenarios:
1. Contracts that include more than 1000 line items
2. Contracts that include line items that reference Service Masters
3. Contracts that include line items that need a cost assignment
There may be other requirements that also drive the need. The three requirements listed above have been highlighted in upgrading two Utilities customers.
Enabling Editing Of Contract Line Items
For those customers that have a requirement to continue to modify contract line items in ECC even though the contract originated in SAP Sourcing / CLM, it is possible to enable editing of contract line items in ECC. SAP Note 1755547 is available and provides example code that can be used to make the necessary modifications. It should be noted that this is considered to be a customer-specific BAdI implementation.
Important Note:
It is also important to note that by enabling this change, when a user publishes a contract update, any changes that were made in ECC will be overwritten. This is the same behavior as was delivered in the integration package. It should however be brought to the customer’s attention.
