Layout Manager is upgraded: New enhancements to make your life easier

Hello again, SAP Fieldglass admins!  

You may already know the last kid that joined the block: the Layout Manager admin object. 

Well, what was good is now even better since there are three new kids joining the neighborhood and ready to help you: the SOW Dashboard, the Home Page Announcement Card and Contact Admin if no cards appear on your home page.  

Why Should You Keep Caring? 

Imagine again your favorite coffee shop, where the staff already knows your taste, what you like and your preferences. Now they offer extra toppings for a more personalized experience. That’s how the Layout Manager enhancements work.  

Layout Manager in a nutshell 

Let’s recap what the Layout Manager is: it customizes what you see in SAP Fieldglass based on your role, starting with the homepage. No more navigating through information you don't need, no more clutter. It's like giving your workspace a much-needed makeover!  

SOW Dashboard 

Next up, we're bringing this to the SOW dashboard. Now, Administrators can specify what content users can see in the SOW Dashboard view when they configure the layout for User Roles, instead of users being exposed to all cards. You get info that's just right for your role and tasks! This is a big deal for making our apps way more personalized in the future. The benefits of this feature include: 

Showing relevant info and updates 

  • Buyers have different priorities; irrelevant data set back efficiency. 
  • Role-based layouts display only relevant cards. 

Boosting task efficiency 

  • Users need a streamlined interface for tasks. 
  • Custom layouts highlight key cards, reducing clutter and improving speed. 

Enhancing user engagement 

  • Engaged users manage vendors better. 
  • Personalized templates boost ownership, engagement, and VMS adoption.  

Home Page Announcement Card  

Now you can add the home page announcement as a card to your custom layouts in Layout Manager. 

If the Announcement card is enabled for a layout, users assigned to that layout see it on the home page:

When the card is visible on the home page, selecting Close removes it and shows a View Announcement button on the banner. Choose that button opens a popup with Add to Home Page and Cancel options. Choosing Add to Home Page brings the card back. 

All default layouts have the Announcement card enabled.  

Contact Admin if no Cards Appear on Your Desktop Application Homepage 

In case there are no cards available on your desktop application's home page, a message will appear advising you to contact your administrator, who can add cards through the layout manager:
