We revealed the latest stars of SAP Community back in August when we announced the six finalist teams for SAP DemoJam. Today, six finalist teams showcased their innovative SAP technology–related ideas, solutions, and projects in a live demo format. No slides allowed and only six minutes per team!! Since the six teams were carefully chosen by our panel of judges - we reiterated along the way that all participants were already stars in our eyes. This is one of the reasons why the live audience at SAP TechEd got to choose the overall winning team via the famous APPLAUSE-O-METER!!! 😊 Plus it's so much fun and the audience loves to take part!!

Craig Cmehil had the pleasure of hosting the first DemoJam at SAP TechEd in Bangalore and so was super-excited to host this one also. He invested many hours coaching each finalist team to the point where they felt comfortable and confident to show off their amazing demos in front of a live audience on the main stage at this year's event!!

All that's left to say is, the audience clapped really loudly ...

Nobody from SAP should be allowed to participate in Demo Jam if they are not in a team with either a partner or a customer.

With SAP employees potentially having unfettered and sometimes early access to every SAP tool without any consideration the above would just be fair and set a level playing field. It's surprising to see a major representation from SAP Teams (3 out of 6 teams) in the finals.

That just leaves me guessing about just how many entries were there from just SAP employees.

You are absolutely correct, unfettered access and advantage could be an extreme problem. This is why we have implemented (even years ago) that all teams were limited to tools and technology that was equally available and our judges reviewed demos and demo submissions based on the description, flows, etc. The names and company names were left out to help make it as unbiased as humanly possible. We also use multiple judges to ensure a good selection across the board.

Our goal of the event is to bring fun, entertainment and inspiration of what is possible, even this year company names were left out of the event.

With all considerations including past historical experiences, time, legal topics and inclusivity we hope that we made this as fair as possible. We have not considered a limit on a per company entry basis because the companies were never a focus of the event, but rather the demos, ideas and fun innovations. We will of course take your feedback under advisement going forward.

What should be the next step for the SAP DemoJam finalists' teams after SAP TechEd 2023?

Please don't stop here. As these use case Proof of Concepts (PoC) ready, scale and mold it into a product, and launch it into the market for General Availability. I am sure it will be sold to potential customers. Additionally, consider doing some roadshows for investors, technology/product companies, and even requesting seed funding from our dear SAP itself. 😊
