Las Vegas Highlights:
SAP’s Björn Goerke kicked off
SAP TechEd in Las Vegas this year wowing a packed crowd with an extravaganza of gifted acting plus inspired, real-time digital application development, driving onto and off the stage in an appropriately souped-up DeLorean just like in the film, “Back to the Future.”

Six teams gave it their all after emerging from
SAP InnoJam to compete as the DemoJam
finalists. We caught up with the ecstatic winning team from Keytree in this
video interview, minutes after they accepted their award for their astounding prototype “beApp,” which is connected to the collaborative cloud platform SAP Jam, and is designed to inform and reward students as they go about their daily activities across campus.
At SAP TechEd Las Vegas this year, the company announced SAP HANA, express edition, providing developers with unlimited, streamlined, downloadable access to the company’s in-memory platform where they can build applications free of charge on a computer or in the cloud. Plus, after provoking industry-wide disruption that initially simplified IT architecture, SAP HANA in-memory technology now features new capabilities enabling partners to deliver the right development environment to customers, and extending SAP Web IDE delivery options with offline development.
SAP also launched the next phase in its initiative to transform industrial 3D printing into a seamless distributed manufacturing process with UPS, expanding the program to give even more companies first-mover advantage.
Bangalore Highlights:
The event kick-started with Bernd Leukert’s demo-rich keynote. He emphasized the ways we can use the great amount of data SAP systems generate to get insights that are valuable to our customers. He introduced SAP HANA express edition, and the excitement continued to build as Bernd demoed how SAP technologies can be used to enable live business.
Attendees had the option to Learn, Build, Explore and Hangout while also having to choose from 900 hours of educational content. The most popular zone was undoubtedly the App space. This place was jam-packed for all three days. People occupied the space even before the show floor officially opened almost every day. They crowded in to witness the Smart Vending machine and 10-minute tutorial challenge to get gifts from the connected machine, even if it meant using their own laptops. Almost 5,000 people from 290 companies attended tutorials covering HCP, SAP HANA, IoT and SAPUI5 over the three-day event – a record-breaking high for the company!”
Another key area of interest for attendees was SAP InnoJam. It was the largest SAP InnoJam ever with 33 participating teams. Each team came up with solutions to a particular problem statement but also coded in 36 hours to conceive and build a real, working prototype for this year’s focus - Education and Research - using specific SAP technologies. Six finalists rose to the challenge and competed on stage for DemoJam. The team which outshone all others was the “Amazing Alexa”.
Barcelona Highlights:
SAP Executive Board Member Bernd Leukert had one main message for developers at
SAP TechEd in Barcelona: You have the power to break free from the chains of legacy software using the
SAP HANA 2 platform, the next generation of the company’s platform for customer innovation. In a keynote jam-packed with IoT and machine learning demos, Leukert took his rapt audience of SAP developers, coders, and architects on a wondrous journey from the outer reaches of space exploration to connected coffee machines on the ground.
