Wouldn't a SAP Security session be helpful?

There is no 'Security' category listed.  Would be nice if SAP realizes the importance. Or maybe we have to wait for a major Hack to occur in the SAP ERP system for SAP to wake up.  I'm interested to know if others feel the same way.

Hi Charlie,

OpenSAP is definitely a great resource (I personally took a couple of the courses myself), and might be a good placeholder for an SAP Security Training, however it is a location that provides customers and partners with the right knowledge about the latest technologies from SAP, such as Cloud, S/4HANA, Fiori and Mobile among others, so it serves as an enabler of new technologies and platforms.

It would be great though, to see such a category in the OpenSAP application, but as for SAP Security, you need very specialized contents, knowledge and instructors. I can point you you to some of the resources that could be helpful around SAP Cyber Security:

Cyber Security Training for Business Critical Applications | Onapsis

Thanks JP.  I agree with your assessment.  I just completed the S/4 HANA course here. Course was good, but could have included some security aspects, to give it a real world flavor.  Hoping one day we will see a Security category in the openSAP website.  Thanks for sharing the SAP Cyber Security training links from Onapsis. Really good articles and whitepapers on SAP Security.

Hello Charlie. I agree - whilst I am not security specialist myself, I do think having a clear view of what is available, prerequisites and best practice is important. Also I think there are two levels at which material should be aimed. General content and approach to enterprise identify mgt in the Cloud and then a more detailed view for security specialists. Hi Charlie, hi Rowen,

This discussion isn't in the correct space but regarding openSAP courses, within our course topics, security is addressed for the relevant topic. For example, here are just a few of the courses that deal with security:

Transformation to Hybrid Landscapes (week 3)

Introduction to Mobile Solution Development for the Enterprise (week 6)

Introduction to SAP HANA Cloud Platform (week 4)

Introduction to SAP Fiori UX (week 4)

There are courses on SAP ERP available at http://training.sap.com or you can create a relevant discussion with ERP experts in the correct SCN space:

Thanks Claire. Although in my experience, security professionals work across applications and technology, but at least they could just skip to the relevant bit. Regards, Rowen.

Hi Rowen,

There is also security training available from SAP Education: https://training.sap.com/shop/sap-search/online-courses?q=security

I hope these help and if you have questions on these courses, please go to the SCN Space.

Kind regards,

Claire

The point was that openSAP courses should address SAP Security topics. The courses you listed do not even come close to any real security discussions.  These courses have more of a marketing angle.  This was my opinion.  Question posted was to ask for Security to be included in the openSAP courses, and for others to chime in with their thoughts.  Rowen Adams understood the point very well.  Unfortunately openSAP did not.

Hi Charlie,

I will raise the security topic to our portfolio team to discuss with other providers at SAP and see if there is something relevant that is not yet available. Our team work closely with the other learning providers at SAP, such as SAP Education, to ensure that we don't produce two courses with the same content. There are many offerings in the SAP Training and Certification Shop and SAP Learning Hub on the topic of security so you might find the knowledge that you're looking for there.

Kind regards,

Claire

Thanks so much for your response Claire.

Honestly, a security focused course within openSAP will be received much better.  First, it requires people to login and attend sessions on a regular basis, then take weekly quizzes and finally an exam at the end.  This requires some level of discipline to follow through, plus establish accountability.  Secondly you have access to peers within the course/chat sessions.  Lastly, it will give the executives/leaders who attend openSAP courses a view of 'security' that has been missing from the ERP landscape.

How SAP helps in protecting of "Crown Jewels" of any given company can be highlighted.  How SECURITY relates back to the BUSINESS can be driven in these session, thus making these courses more realistic in nature, while introducing these newer SAP topics to the ERP communities, customers and consultants.

Just my opinion.  Thank you.
