Step 3, 4 & 5 problems with Lab #5 from SAP Basics Using IDES

For my class this fall I've been using "SAP Basics using IDES" test modules. Today while testing Lab #5 (Manufacturing Execution), I had problems in step 3-5. In step 3. After saving "Good Issue" in the process of production order,

Instead of displaying a Document Number for the "Goods Issue", I saw the following strange message in the message line :

u201CIn future, batches are managed to be uniquely in client levelu201D

I'd like to have this problem fixed before my students have the same in the class. My UCC suport people couldn't solve it, and asked me to post this in UAC community. With 3 different users I did the same step three times with same error message.

Any help from you will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi,

on www.sapsdforum.com I found a very good explanation of batch management.

In the blog it is stated out that the batch management for a material is set in the material master record. Can you please check whether the checkboxes are selected or not? Please have a look into view: Purchasing, Storage Location. If the checkboxes are set, please deselect them.

To be honest: I didn't see any error like this in our SAP systems so maybe it is a customizing issue for the specific SAP System.

HTH.

Hi,

The batch management settings can be checked/modified in T-code OMCT. I thought I had checked the settings previously for Sock's client but mistakenly logged into the wrong system. Upon rechecking it, I have made the correct setting of "Batch Unique at the Material Level".

Andre's comment was very useful. With his suggestion I communicated again with my UCC support person, and we resolved the problem in time.

Thank you.
