I have recently been involved in configuration of ECC6.0 for use in my intermediate accounting lab. I have run across some problems and errors that as it turns out, are also fairly common in the BPI classes. Although fixes for some of these common errors can be "googled", I thought that it might be nice to have them all in one place for all of us faculty who sometimes end up with frustrating errors in our assignments. So I will post these as separate threads by topic, so that you all can search on the topic and hopefully find an easy fix fairly quickly. Then we can get our "golden clients" updated as well.
Here goes:
When posting a cash sale, we received an error that the accounting document was not created because of an account determination error.
Request clarification before answering.
This fix works in the IDES clients:
Account determination issues in sales result from missing or incorrect configurations. In the IMG, go to sales and distribution and follow the menu path below:
basic functions > account assignment/costing > revenue account determination > assign GL accounts > customer group account key.
Make sure that account type EVV has been assigned a GL account for your company code. EVV is the cash sales order type and often is forgotten in the initial configuration. Your account should be the cash account in your chart of accounts.
If you get the account determination error in all of your sales orders, the fix is a bit different. Using the menu path above, go to general instead of customer group account key, but you still need to maintain the account determination for all the types of sales orders. The account should be your sales account in the chart of accounts.
Account determination errors also relate to material movements, so if you receive an account determination error in MIGO, use this same fix. Follow the path: materials management > valuation and account assignment > account detrmination > account determination w/o wizard > configure automatic postings.
In the BPI exercises, account determination errors can happen when the student does not complete steps in exercise 96 properly.
