Questions about SID and certification

2,225

Hi there,

I am a senior SAP consultant. I was working with SAP's partner company and now working with another company that is not SAP's partner or customer. I would like to attend a new SAP examination for refreshing my knowledge.

In this case, I want to know how should I do:

1. Use my old S-ID to enroll in the exam?

2. Apply for a new S-ID to enroll in the exam? (but the company currently working for is not SAP partner, and I supposed not required to attend SAP training as I am very senior enough)

Please let me know the right way to go

Kind regards,

Jay

Hello jajay777,

Please find my comments below:

1. Use my old S-ID to enroll in the exam? Old S-ID gets deactivated by old employer, once employee no longer work for the employer. Hence using old S-ID is not a good idea. You will loose ability to access primary email ID associated with your old S-ID as well.

2. Apply for a new S-ID to enroll in the exam? (but the company currently working for is not SAP partner, and I supposed not required to attend SAP training as I am very senior enough) You have two option here - Apply for new S-ID from new employer or create a P-ID (my recommendation). If your new company is not a partner then the best way is to use your personal ID to create a new account in training.sap.com (this will create a P-ID for you) and go for certification.

You can even request SAP Training to transfer your badges and certificates to new ID if required. To keep everything under one ID. Ppl do this to avoid situations where they no longer have access to old email ID.

https://training.sap.com/ > Select Region >Scroll all the way down >Click on "Email Us"

Bonus Tips : If you have multiple accounts then it might be a good idea to map all available ID's under universal ID. You can create one https://discover.sap.com/universalid/en-us/about.html. You can add your all S-ID and P-ID under one umbrellas.

Note: Companies use recommends S-ID's use for certifications, as this lets them track - how may employees gets certified. In your case you do not have such obligations.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any query around this topic.
