KPI-3: No of Contributors and average donation per year
How is Average donation defined?
Average donation = Total Donation / No. of Donations( gifts) per year
or
Average Donation (per donor) = Total Donation / No. of Donors per year

KPI 7: Operating reserves:-
This value is expected to be in the range 0-100%
However, from the given data this Operating reserve comes as negative giving the ratio as -8.7%
how to go about it?

Hey,
Is the number of repeat contributors and new contributors only for year 2011? If yes, what is the "All Years" in the time period referring to?
For the percentage of repeat contributors, is the "total number of contributors" for 2011 or for all years?
Thanks,
Dar

Great questions. Yes the number of repeat contributors and new contributors is only for year 2011.
The "All Years" time period refers to the range of data that you'll need to consider to calculate this KPI. For example, a repeat contributor could be someone who gave in 2003 and then gave in 2011. Or it could be someone who gave every year from 2003 to 2011. They need to give in 2011 and at least once in a previous year.
For the % of repeat contributors, it is the total number of contributors for all years.
Cheers,
Darren
Hello,
I have a question about data cleansing. The contributor list contains some amounts impacting the average donation size per donor. For example there are a number of credits and $0.00 contributions. Is it necessary, with respect to this competition, to reconcile the bad data; Find the matching credits/debits, zero dollars and remove them from calculations?
Thanks,
Austin

Two of the KPIs which need to be included in the dashboard are:
1. Income vs Expenses
2. Performance to Budget
There is no income statement in the attached excel files, we are just given statement of cash flow. For individual items under revenue and expense we need an income statement. This is required for designing dashboard for KPI 1.
For KPI 2, the case study asks to display comparison of Actual vs Budget for 4 revenue items - corporate, individual, foundations, and special events - as a chart component. The attached excel files does not have adequate information on this either.
I see only two spreadsheets in the Excel file JA Financial Statements 2006 - 2011 - 1. Statements of Functional Expense; and 2. Statements of Cash Flow - Table.
Please help what needs to be done here. The case study says to refer - Statement of Activites Tab from JA Financial Statements.xls for KPI 1 and KPI 2. However, there is no such spreadsheet on this Excel file. I have downloaded the project data from the following link: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/uac/index?rid=/library/uuid/30ee1571-2533-2f10-31bd-8826243425ee

Hi Chandan,
When you open the Financial Statements 2006-11.xls, go to the bottom, on the left corner you can see four <> buttons that you can move the taps left and right. Click < button twice, and then you will see the Statements of Financial Position and Statements of Activities.
Hope that solved your problem.

Is the revenue calculated generated by the cash basis or the accrual basis? And are the contributions included into the income sheet?
Thanks,
Bennett

Hi Bennet,
I'm not sure what you mean by your question. What KPI are focusing on? If you could be more specific and reference the exact name of the sheet and cells you are refering to with your question that would be more helpful.
With this competition, you are going to have to make some assumptions with regards to the numbers. If you do make some assumptions, please document it in the spreadsheet.

Hello,
When determining which Fundraising Mix category each line in the contribution list fits into, which category do entries coded 402-2 fall under? Do the 408-2 United Way contributions fall under personal contributions, like the other 408s, or foundation contributions? Also, would the 411 and 413 classifications fall under foundation funding? Sorry for so many questions. If these are questions that may not be answered please let me know. Thank you.

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for the message. I see that you are looking at the data in quite a bit of detail.
I wasn't expecting you to drill down to that level of detail for fundraising mix as this information is contained in the Contributor List spreadsheet.
If you want to drill-down to this level of detail, I think you'll have to make some assumptions on what category these items belong under and document those assumptions.
I hope that answers your question.

Darren
Hello,
Are we allowed to add new columns or calculation cells in the spreadsheets? No modifying of the actual data.
