Hi,
We have a team of Standard Authors using Instant Producer who submit their content to the server.
I review and edit it with Producer then move projects into the right location using Manager.
All the authors can access the library and view the demos, tests etc in the web-based Trainer after being asked to login the first time.
But when Learners receive the same link via email, they login and instead of the Trainer opening, IE interprets a part of the URL as an object to open or save. Clicking either of these options produces no result.
I did some tests:
I had a Learner try to login using my PC (which works for me so it's not a question of browser settings or missing software/drivers) and the same thing happened.
In the Manager I then assigned the same user the role of Standard Author and hey presto the trainer opened. Then I removed the role and the user was once again unable to view the Trainer.
Does anyone have an idea where in roles/permissions or settings or elsewhere I should look for a cure to this problem?
Thanks in advance,
David

Hi David,
The Learners can only access to a published content.
You need to publish the content and send the right link to the learners.

Hi Thomas,
The content is already published - I think even the Standard Authors cannot access unpublished content. But Learners cannot open the Trainer. I've tried modifying the permission settings for the "Learner" role so it matched exactly the settings for "Standard Author". It made no difference so I switched everything back.
I'm still in the situation where I can assign a user the role of Standard Author and that user immediately has access. 2 minutes later I re-assign the user back to Learner and access is lost. So it has nothing to do with local settings on the user's PC.
We are still in development stage but this will be a major problem as rollout gets nearer - all our wonderful WPB content will be of no use (unless I assign everyone in the organisation the rola of Standard Author!)
I've been looking at this on and off for over a month now and I think I will have to open a Helpdesk incident.
Thanks anyway for your help. After I learn the solution I will post it here...
Hi David,
I will promise 10min to fix, 1h to explain.
Dont touch the permissions! Wrong way.
Send me your details, and i will do short session with you
After i have fixed that you need to promise, you go to one of our enablement courses.
The good one come from the German SAP Consultants..

Hello Thomas,
Thanks for your offer. A short session would be very welcome.
In July was trained in WPB at our Swiss HQ by someone directly from SAP Germany. We had to cover a lot of ground and this is something we didn't test. I don't think our SAP implementation partner has particular experience with WPB but I should check that.
I am in Switzerland today but leaving shortly.

Thankyou very much for your time so far.
