Request clarification before answering.
Hi,
in general it is possible to get a part-time job, maybe you can consider to work as freelancer, as this is more flexible...
But if you are going to study on a full time base, there is not much time left for working, maybe one or two days at maximum.
Best regards
Sonja

Hello All,
I am a managerial professional from India with 4 years of work experience currently working in the engineering sector.
My previous academic background has been in I.T.
I have been frantically searching the Web for information regarding Full-Time Masters Degree programs being offered by SAP University Alliance Partners in the Asia Pacific Region ,but have failed to locate anything relevant.
I am looking out for specific details such as course curriculum, start date and placement details.
Would anyone be kind enough to point me in the right direction, please?

Hello,
Can anyone please furnish more details about such SAP University programs in USA.
I am trying to figure out the list of participating universities in Pennsylvania for a Masters course in SAP.
Thanks,
Rup

Hello Rup,
We have many universities offering SAP-related courses throughout Pennsylvania in our University Alliances program.
Some have more business-related courses, some have more IT-related courses. Which type of master are you most interested in and is there a specific field of interest inside of the general area? For example, accounting & controlling, supply chain, production/logistics, etc. are business areas while consulting and software development are IT areas.
Many are located in the greater Philadelphia area, including Delaware, some are in the Pittsburgh area, some are in Central PA, and we are also in a number of regional areas. Which area are you most interested in?
Finally, are you looking for full-time or part-time (primarily evenings and weekends for working adults) programs?
We are ready to point you to your options once we know better your interests.
Thanks
Bob
Hi Bob,
I have a similar question. I have completed my Bachelors in Engineering from India and I'm now working in SAP technology (developement).
I wish to do my Masters in SAP and I want to do it from the best university in the world.
As per your questionairre in the previous post,
1. I want the best universities.
2. I would like to do more technical stuff. So software development in IT related course should be applicable to me.
3. Looking for a full time course.
Please let me know which are the best universities for me.
Thanks and Regards,
Swapnil.
Hi Swapnil,
Please go to the "Program Overview" page of the University Alliances Community. You will find it at the top of the left hand navigation column on the "Welcome Page". On the right hand side of the Program Overview, you will find a box for "University Alliances Around the World". You will find an excel spreadsheet there with all the countries listed in tabs on the bottom of the page. Each page shows the list of University Alliances member universities in each country.
1. I want the best universities.
"Best" is relative. Each person must decide for themselves what is best for them. Location, cost, ranking, flexibility, course selection, professors' reputations and involvelment, accreditations earned, teaching vs. research emphasis, proximity and relationship to relevant employers, etc. can all enter into the definition of "best".
2. I would like to do more technical stuff. So software development in IT related course should be applicable to me.
Narrow down your geography and your ranking. Then please do a search on the short list of universities interesting to you to see if their University Alliances involvement is in Computer Science and/or Information Technology. Some of the schools are more oriented to business process and consulting. Some are oriented towards software development.
3. Looking for a full time course.
Most masters programs these days are designed to adapt to part-time study for working professionals, but they are able to be pursued full-time simply by accelerating the hours taken. Again, you will need to check out the universities that interest you as per above.
In all of my 30+ years as a professor and business executive, I never told anyone where to go to study, even though I have advised hundreds of employees and students. It is such a personal decision. I am not the one who will be studying, so I cannot reasonably tell you where and how to study.
I have two children in college right now. I did not even tell them where to go to study. They are quite happy having been allowed to choose for themselves.
I expect some professors reading this can promote the benefits of their schools to you directly.
Best Wishes
Bob

Mehul,
No university in the United States has a "Masters in SAP" or the specific concentrations you mentioned. Schools offer a traditional masters degree (or undergraduate degree) where their for-credit courses use SAP as a teaching tool to reinforce the concepts that professors teach in the classroom. Schools make the decision to offer an entry level TERP10 certification to students that complete several courses that use SAP on a semester by semester basis. None of the schools you listed offered a TERP10 so far in 2009.
I encourage faculty from the schools listed below to post a response to this question -- share with Mehul how SAP is being used to support a MS degree.
If what your wife is really interested in is the SAP component, then I encourage her to explore the SAP training programs available through SAP. Your wife can obtain the necessary courses via elearning or in SAP training centers then take the appropriate certification exam. More can be found on this at sap.com.
Best,
Heather
Hi Bob,
Thanks for the elaborate reply.
I went through the list of universities in the alliance program. I could not find any university among the top 10 US Universities for computer science in the list. Any specific reason for this?
Keeping in mind my 2 year experience in SAP technology, what opportunities do you see coming up after having completed an MS in a SAP alliance university as compared to a non SAP alliance university? Any major difference?
I also came across the MIS(Master in Information Systems) program. How do you compare it with the traditional MS program?
Would be great to hear from you.
Regards,
Swapnil.
Hi Swapnil
I would recommend you do a little research, even a quick google or wikipedia search, and you will find that a MS in Computer Science is highly technology oriented and a Master in Management Information Systems is a combination of IT and business management. CS is usually for engineers designing new software and MIS is for business applications and internal systems consulting (also called Business Information Systems and Business Informatics).
Our UA program works very closely with business schools and IT programs. Since our software is used in organizations of all types, our customers are most often looking for MIS, IT, and business graduates. We also support CS, but there are just far more business and MIS-related programs that have joined our program.
Regarding rankings, we are very well covered globally with highly-ranked, fully-accredited univeristies of excellence. I don't make specific recommendations myself, though. It is up to you to decide. So take a master in your area of interest and you will find a way to be successful with your career and pay.
Bob
Hi Narayanareddy,
I think going for a master degree is always a good choice, even more, if you already gathered some year experience in SAP and ABAP. If you have any questions on the program, I am sure the university can provide you more information about the contents and courses offered.
Best regards
Sonja

Hi Narayanareddy,
institutions collaborating with the SAP UCCs in EMEA are listed on the UCCs website
http://wwwhcc.informatik.tu-muenchen.de/ssi/en/public/common/kunden_public.shtml.
Universities of applied sciences are listed as "Fachhochshule".

Hi
I found this link to the program in English for you:
http://web.fh-heidelberg.de/en/fh-heidelberg-en/12409.html
The SRH Heidelberg is the name of the University of Applied Sciences.
In fact you can find much information at the university's website in English. On the right hand side near the top corner you can select the language you want to use.
This is the program description:
"You would like to climb the career ladder and engage in continuing education while working? The new part-time Master program at the SRH University Heidelberg offers you the excellent opportunity of combining your job and continuing education. This degree provides you with the best prerequisites for the next step in your career u2013 taking on new responsibilities and functions in IT, management and consulting. The program particularly enables SAP consultants to develop themselves and their career prospects further. As part of the Master course they are given the opportunity to prepare for selected SAP certifications.
The bilingual 2-year Master course (English / German) starts in June 2008 and upon completion awards the degree of u201CMaster of Computer Scienceu201D. Since in practice IT issues are typically strongly linked to business issues, the program covers both aspects. In addition to key IT topics like Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) or Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), emphasis is also placed on aspects in business and consulting."
You can find content details using the link.
The program is also AQAS accredited.
It looks like a very good choice for a master. SAP-skills are highly sought after. Since you have ABAP experience, you should fit in well with the other students they are recruiting.
Heidelberg is a beautiful city and not far from SAP's headquarters in Walldorf.
Good Luck
Bob LoBue
