Hi,

"When you dont find any solution consult seniors or experience guys."... and one place to find them on SAP is SDN....So, I am confused and need some guidance towards my Carrer path.

I am currently working on Enterprise Portal and have experience of Abap for 1yr. Now i am delimma whether to shift to BI or PI.

Why i dont want to work more on Portal more as i am not finding more oppurtunites on portal Admin side. I dont wana go Development side as its require Java knowledge and i am not comfortable on that.

Why BI because i think that combination of BI with Portal has good future.

Why PI as market is hot..good pay and resources are very less.

Or should i continue with portal.....

So please guide me what should be my carrer path ...

Stan..!!!

Hi ep_user.

I am MM and BI certified consultant and would like to advise to go for BI only.

I am explaining below!

SAP started with OLTP (online transaction processing) which is in other way known as R/3 System.

Till today most of the Tier-1 companies have laready implemented R/3 system. Most of the Tier-2 companies have already started implementing .

Because of price contraints and competions, Tier-3 and below companies are not very much attractive for top IT companies. Hence the quality of work and recognition will not be much in future in R/3 jobs.

In the year 2000, SAP has come up with Enterprise Data Warehousing which is now coupled with Planning to form Business Intelligence (BI).

BI essentially deals with OLAP (Online Analytical processing).

This means it deals with Analysis with Historical data most efficiently. As such strategies are adopted on the basis of this analysis.

To concise, R/3 system in SAP eliminates requirement of many junior staff in accounts, sales, purchase, stores, costing. Whereas BI has started eliminating requirement of many managers. When BI is implemented, CEO of a company can himself do a lot.

In many tier-1 companies BI still have to be implemented as they have started realising managers are too expensive.

REgards,

SUbha

Hi,

I think you should opt for BI with portal as it has a bright future and moreover u will be able to use ur portal skills in it.

If u r not comfortable with java then also you can work in EP in knowledge management which dnt hv much java use.
