Implemenatation Vs Support?

Hi,

Plz. give y'r valueble suggestions.

I am in SAP-Basis for the last 3 months, previously i was in win/ux server support.

In basis i am in implementation side, it is so , tension oriented job....i heard that Support side also there in basis.

Imple. side we need to work 12 to 14hrs.( more also), very high responsibility...but in support , we work in shifts only...work with team...also..

How is the future, and prospects for basis support side?

Money is not the matter for me.

I want atleast peaceful sleep in night.

Really seeking best advice...

Hi,

You are lucky one to get the Implementation experience so soon in your start of SAP -Basis Consultant career.

As per my view, each consultant should have implementation experience. It is value added. You are the king to choose what you want to set the parameters.

If you want to get peaceful sleep... then for you " Support'" is also not a good option.

Even in support you have to spend 'sleepless nights"

By the way with which type of company you are working?

There is a saying

`Sailing in smooth sea does not create skillful sailors`

So, the choise is yours. Either you choose to become a skilled sailor or unskilled sailor.

According to me, I have planned my career like this

1. implementation

2. Support

3. Upgradation

4. Support

5. Implementation

By this, u will have a balance in your career.

What are the advantages of working in Implemenatation and Support?

Implmentation Support

you can do from scratch ,Fix your own timing for end date .Cool job for shifts also. its worthful for when changing company or doing and learning new things.

Support

You can find what earlier functional and what they requirement andfind solution is headache. Its headache to working intimes whenever client got problem u will be there at that movement . no personal growth and technical growth .routine job.

ok think do whenever u got implementation offer go enjoy work.

hi,

Yes in support the work is more realxed. But in implementation the work is more hectic because you are working under strict deadlines to complete the work.This may be till the project ends. Whereas in a support job, the implementation has alreayd been completed the questions which are addressed are more abt why somethings are not working or why do they get a dump etc are the kind of questions that you would get.

Now if you are looking at a more relaxed environment then a support is good.Both support and implementations have their own advantages and disadvantages.

As you say you have been in implementation only for the last 3 months I would suggest dont get into support immediately because even for support you need to know where the problem occurred. Implementation gives you the confidence to tackle a lot of problems.
