Hi Ramanan

I really do not see what an MBA has got to do with SAP.

And MBA is a Master in Business Administration, it costs much more than a SAP course.

Do you really want to improve your hiring / wage conditions?

Take a SAP certification.

Put yr resume on the market

Your worklife as a programmer / analyst will change and you will regain the money spent on certification in two months' salary, stay assured!

Hi Riccardo,

Which SAP certification should a Java developer take?

Thanks!

Hello Mike!

First of all, are you sure you want to get the SAP and not the Java Certification?

I got the SUN Java Certified Programmer Certification 1.4 in 2005.

It is very simple but I can assure you it boosts your career like SAP's would.

You see, when you take a certification, the employer appreciates the fact that you have made a commitment to study, get ready, pass.

If it is a Programmer, Developer, whatever gets really irrelevant.

In order to get a Java Certification, you just need:

1. a couple of Amazon Books (that are targetted on the certification. You will find some very easily. Cannot link them because it would be ad)

2. a little experience

3. wordpad, javac and java.exe

Luckily, study material for Sun and even Microsoft [which has a dedicated press line FOR its Certifications] is not so secret and - pardon me but I must admit it - unexplicably misterious as SAP's.

I get it SAP wishes people attend $3000 courses before they give them certification. BUT, in this way, they discourage people and you will see fewer prepared, well-organized, <i>certified </i>consultants around. What a pity.

Anyways, if you are a java programmer, a good exam for you could be:

C_J2EEMIG_04 [Development Consultant SAP NetWeaver 2004 - J2EE Migration]

Alternatively, there is this harder one (according to what I wrote before, you don't need difficult!)

C_JA320_04 [Dev. Cons. SAP NetWeaver 2004 - Web Appl. Dev. Focus Java]

Funny you might have all this patience to learn and you're not allowed to have study material...

Since u have a good background in java i would suggest ABAP programming. It is the core SAP that u want to work on

In Bangalore and Hyd, there are many institutes that teach ABAP for about Rs. 10k. u can join now and practice on IDES server. When u r perfect, take up ur certification at Siemens/Cognizant/Genpact.

if u want to stay in the programming field, MBA will not be helpful in any way. however later on if u would like to shift to the functional side and have no domain exp ... it <b>may</b> be useful... not necessary.....

Doing an MBA n then switching over to SAP wont be a good choice, raher u could directly go for SAP course on the module u wish to enter, n start working.

Once u gain experience, then u could go for certification to completly establish yourself n then might be for a MBA degree, which would help u to get to the higher management.

Most SAP People around me don't have MBA.

Just wounder why a MBA will cost less than 1 SAP module?

because in USA, a SAP Module cost $5000 US.

But MBA cost approx $20,000.

On the other hand, if you are sap employer, you will hire a

a. MBA guy or

b. person with SAP Certificateion and knowledge on SAP?

it would be better to hire a guy with good sap knowledge.

In India, most SAP hires have an MBA as well as Domain exp B4 entering the SAP Field(CRM, SRM, HR, FICO, etc)
