How do you make modifications to entries in the material master for trading goods (such as modifying Moving Price for a material)?

In your question, you offered moving average price as an example of data in the material master you wanted to change. Steve provided a great explanation of why you cannot change this , once the material has been used (e.g, received goods). Obviously there are other data in the material master that can be changed. Were there other specific data that you are inquiring about?

You can not change the moving average price - this is due to internal controls. If you could simply go into the material master and change the moving average price you would have a direct impact on your balance sheet. Once you have created the material and seeded the moving average price the way to change it is by going into Logistics --> Material Management --> Valuation --> Change in Material Price

This is a great teaching point for your class to learn about those internal controls and the field status settings. Since you can only enter something in the moving average value field when creating a material - you are prohibited when changing a material.
