Hi. I used to be a technical project manager for SAP R/3 with FI, CO, and SCM in the pre-HANA days. I would do some ABAP coding but mainly lead ABAPers in their work.
After spending many years in cloud projects, I'm interested in coming back to SAP projects. But with R/4, HANA, and SAP on Cloud, I'm not sure where to start. What certifications would get me up to speed on the latest in the SAP ecosystem and help my resume?
Request clarification before answering.
Hi Todd,
Since you had already worked on FI/CO & SCM in past, I would recommend you SAP S/4 HANA certification if you want to build on your business knowledge of the pre-HANA days. But if you consider yourself as more technical than a functional person, then my recommendation would be to go for SAP Cloud Platform and/or SAP Cloud Platform Integration certification which will take you closer to the current technical skillsets required by the SAP Cloud technologies.
Let me know if you need more details of these certifications or study material.

Hi Todd,
Unfortunately the cloud platform certification will not cover the changes in S/4 but it will certainly shed light on how the on-premise HANA is different (architecture wise) than the cloud version. For deeper details of S/4, you should take some courses probably on OpenSAP or SAPAcademy in Youtube.
