hi team,

I am glad that I found this site for expert advise on SAP Queries. I would be grateful if someone can address my concern. I am an accountant with over 3 years experience, I am qualified as CMA.,ICWA(Inter).,M.Com. I have worked in ERP Systems such as Dynamics AX,Sage and least experience SAP. I am now looking for a mid-level career change and would like to become a finance consultant from being an accountant. having said this first thing that I thought was becoming a SAP FICO consultant. Please can you suggest whether taking this career at this point is a right choice? having no experience as a SAP consultant will I be able to establish career progress in this role? I will be happy for your suggestions.

Thanks

Hi,

I don't know whether you are still interested in SAP FICO consultant or not but here are my experience. I started my career as auditor then I become SAP consultant (finance and technical) to support end user SAP for nearly 3 years and complete ACCA ( charted accountant) during this time as well. From my view, if you persuade SAP consultant and you are charted accountant, it will be great since IFRS and local GAAP change gradually for example IFRS9 , IFRS16 and you can learn how to implement it into SAP system. Besides, you can also learn integration topic with other team Technical team (ABAP to debug), SD and MM, CO... and I think the desired position is SAP architecture. If you choose career in end user role ( finance only), for sure you have more opportunity to utilize all consolidation topics and other accounting issue more practical than SAP consultant do. In some specific firm, you can find the position that SAP consultant can have specialization in IFRS researching and implementation.

Hope it helps 😉

Hi,

If you are already part qualified CWA and post graduate in commerce and worked on ERP system, it would not be that difficult to become SAP consultant.

The following would be handy for you.

Kind Regards,

Ravi
