Is there any difference of importance/preference/value wise between BS 7.0 and ECC 6.0 for SAP FI?

I Suggest you to go through the SAP Introduction material. SAP 01 which would tell you in detail about all the products of SAP. And the importance of FI in each of the products.
Martin Maruskin on the first part (SAP Business Suit) is absolutely correct.
About the BS 7 its just a tool that will help you to choose the SAP product as a solution with BEST Practice Scenarios (Which are just like templates in BS 7.0).
