A student has teh follwoing error : "Make an entry in field P&L statmt acct type" when I try to save. Any ideas where to fix this. We checked field statuses, teh correct P&L selections were made.

This is a tricky one and without being able to try this out in the system I'm not sure if it will solve your problem or not. Try the following:

This option to choose statement account types only comes up when certain automated postings are defined. Run transaction OB53 and specify the student's chart of accounts. In the table that results you should see one P&L Statmt acct type referring to the Retained Earnings account. (There is a row with the value "RE" in the left column and the account number for that company code's retained earnings account in the other.) If there is more than 1 row in this table, that is the source of the problem. Delete the other rows, save, and then go back to the G/L account and try to finish the account creation process.
