Best Practices for WPB Instant Producer

Hello Guys

Can you tell me the best practices when using WPB Instant Producer?

The way I´m using it is with a WorkFlow like this:

1.- User opens iPro, records the screens and generates the Word Documentation, then clicks Save to Server so the project starts with status "In Process"

2.- The user clicks "Change Status" and select "Under Revision" and clicks "Assingnee" and select the user who will review the project.

3.- The Reviewer user opens iPro, clicks Checkout Project and see the project and he can decide if Approve it or Rejects it.

The problems I having by doing this is:

1.- User manually have to select the user that will review it.

2.- The reviewer user has to close and open iPro so that the workarea get updated.

3.- Instant Producer is slow when recording and not always records all the screen.

Any comments?

Hi Sergio,

let me try to answer your questions:

1. Based on the given workflow you can add a step to assign
   the content to a central point of contact knowing/ working the Manager. This role will
   assign the uploaded content to a suitable reviewer from within the Manager. So
   the SME will not have the need to choose a reviewer by his own.
2. I’m not quite sure why the Instant Producer has to be
   closed to get the update. When the Instant Producer is connected to the Manager
   and the task has been assigned within the Manager to the reviewer, the reviewer
   will get a mail (workflow or assignment based) and can then retrieve the
   respective tasks via ‘check out projects’ directly. To do so the respective
   user has only to be set as assignee.
3. The short latency when recording is required to get the
   most information out of the application in order to create qualitative content
   (suitable instruction text including the field name, icon, and hotkey if
   available). This process is indicated by the recording bar which turns red. The
   content developer or subject matter expert has to wait until it turns green
   again. In case the recording speed is too slow it might indicate a proper
   application profile is not available for respective application. This can be
   checked before starting the recording when choosing the application.
