Hello,
Why do we specify "unplanned depreciation" in the base method of a depreciation key?
If I post an unplanned depreciation I don't enter a *depreciation key*, only an *amount and transaction type*.
Thank you,

@ Eli, Dear Eli, rest assured that I search extensively before asking questions here. It's not as if help.sap.com is very informative, it's basically the same quality as the old R/3 helpCD's we used back in the 90s. Walldorf knows this too, it's just not their priority to fix it.
Kind regards,

Dear Vincent,
You post unplanned depreciation for an asset with t-code ABAA. Unplanned depreciation means you post a manualy defined amount of depreciation because of some special reason.
This is outside ordinary depreciation that the system calculates every month using the depreciation key for the specific asset.
Both types of depreciation, Ordinary and Unplanned, are posted when you execute AFAB, every month.
