SAP NEWSBYTE - SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced that Wrocaw University of Economics (WUE), located in Wroc?aw, western Poland, has joined the SAP University Alliances program. The contract signing ceremony took place at CeBIT 2013 in Hannover, Germany, on March 6. WUE was represented at the ceremony by Professor Maciej Pondel, professor in the Department of Artificial Intelligence Systems at WUE. Ann Rosenberg, global head of SAP University Alliances, signed the contract on behalf of SAP.

WUE is the fourth university in Poland to join SAP University Alliances. SAP will provide WUE with free licenses for software applications and help it integrate SAP software into its teaching program. For organizational purposes, WUE is affiliated to the University Competence Center (UCC) location at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. The UCC takes full responsibility for operating and maintaining the SAP solutions deployed at WUE so that the teaching staff can concentrate on communicating the curriculum content to their students. The UCC also develops teaching concepts, holds training courses for lecturers and supplies curricula.

"We're delighted to be able to raise our profile as an innovative establishment for the study of economics by joining the SAP University Alliances program," said Pondel. "Deploying SAP software in practice as part of our teaching program will help us train competent, creative and motivated young professionals to join enterprises and institutions in our region."

WUE was founded in 1947 as a private college of commercial education. Today, it has four faculties: Economic Sciences; Management, Computer Science, and Finance; Engineering and Economics; and Economics, Management and Tourism (the latter located in Jelenia Góra). It employs 784 academic teachers, including 142 professors, and has about 17,000 students enrolled in the current academic year. WUE has produced more than 70,000 graduates and holds the right to confer both doctoral degrees and teaching professorships.

The SAP University Alliances program is a global initiative with more than 1,300 member institutions in over 70 countries. Through the program, SAP promotes practical and future-oriented training at academic institutions by providing teaching staff and students all over the world with access to new SAP technologies. The program is designed for universities and vocational colleges that want to actively integrate SAP software into their curriculum.
