On Thursday April 21, SAP together with partner NIMBL conducted a live webinar "How To Base Your SAP S/4HANA Migration on Real User Experience"

Jesse Bernal, Jr of SAP and Andy Prier from NIMBL shared with the group during the 1 hour session some key information including:

- what leading companies are playing the game and how they are disrupting the norm

- different ways User Experience Management tools can prepare the organization for a migration, and monitor and support the business after implementation

- how the UX can be developed in the most efficient way

- where to involve your users in the development of your UX and where to get the greatest impact

Please find here access to view the session on-demand, access the presentation from the session, as well as a complete listing of the Q&A that was held at the closing.

SAP Fiori

How do we jump start the migration from ECC6 by using Fiori with a non Hana database.

There are a couple of options. The first and most interesting prospect is Fiori Cloud which recently became generally available. With this solution, we can get a Fiori Launchpad with 29 of the most popular applications pre-installed accessible on the HANA Cloud Platform. It is also possible to eliminate an on-premise Gateway instance. In this scenario, the only requirement for a customer would be to implement the corresponding back end components.

The next option would be to implement Gateway and Fiori on-premise. Here you have the option of 140+ applications available out of the box.

How is the licensing price if i want to use FIORI services in HCP, is it based on number of users

Yes, it is based on number of users

what tools does SAP has for measurement

For measuring user experience , SAP offers SAP User Experience Management by Knoa www.sap.com/uem-by-knoa

What are the pros and cons of UEM versus Knoa?

UEM and Knoa are actually the same product: SAP User Experience Management (UEM) by Knoa

what is the percentage of current FIORI apps that require HANA? And is that HANA S/4 or just HANA hardware?

816 – Apps

144 – Any DB apps

270 – S/4 HANA (On-Premise) Apps

710 HANA DB applications

  1. Hi.. with regards to migration, functionally, how is my master data (like cost center, profit centers) taken care? Is there any impact?

SAP provides the utilities that migrate this data as long as it is standard master data. Any customer table data is however, not included within these utilities. If you have a large volume of customer data, I would recommend looking at tools like BOBJ’s Data Services. If it isn’t much data, you can achieve migrating data using HANA Smart Data Access or even create custom ABAP programs to help perform these migrations.

Can Fiori be a front end for presenting consolidated SAP and Non SAP data?

Yes. As long as the data is consolidated into a single OData service. This can be done with Gateway, Process Orchestration (REST Adapter) or SMP.

Any plan to develop FIORI for MES features ?

My only insight to this is to use SAP MII which uses SAPUI5 as the primary user interface. These user interfaces could be integrated into the Fiori Launchpad. However, I do not know of any roadmap for MES that includes integration of MES functionality into the Fiori Launchpad.

Is S/4 Hana and/or FIORI already used by aeropsace industry companies and specifically MRO industry ?

Perhaps we might see something released as part of the S/4 HANA solution, but I know of nothing specific to Fiori at this time.

is SAP User Experience Management by Knoa in cloud or on premise?

Both are now available

Why should we use knoa to monitor ECC instead of solution manager?

Whereas Solution Manager is typically used to monitor backend system and process performance, UEM monitors user performance data from the end users PC that is not generated from the SAP backend processing
