We are very excited to share with you about the recent engagement at an SAP University Alliances member college – SRKR Engineering College, Andhra Pradesh on the occasion on Women’s Day Celebration. The main objective of the event was to motivate women students to pursue professional careers after completing their education as most students in that region would opt not to join the workforce. This event was meant to make the women students realize that when they already are doing so great in academics then there should be no reason why they can’t grow in a corporate environment. The university feels that women student must realize their potential to contribute to the national economics. We put in place two engagements at this event only for women students. - 1. Hackathon on SAP Lumira on the theme #PlegdeForParity – where the 30 students were given datasets via which they could dig insights on issues such as disparity in number of women in government jobs to disparity in girl child education. Colleagues Pranitha and Sreedevi Venugopal planned and executed this hackathon on SAP Lumira wonderfully and with utmost care.
- 2. Chief Guest address by Dharani Karthikeyan, Senior Development Manager, Mobile Analytics, SAP Labs India. She inspired the 400 women only audience via a beautiful presentation where she shared her opinion on and broke many myths around women working in corporates such as the glass celling, ability to manage home and work and more. She also introduced the students to the many great initiatives for women that SAP Labs has such as Business Women’s Network, empowHer, Run Mummier which is why SAP Labs India is ranked 1 for being the best place to work for women as per Great Place to Work survey.
The hackathon had great outcomes from the 2 teams (8 students in total) who jointly shared the 1st position. They will be given the opportunity to directly appear for Fulltime/ Internship interviews under the Diversity Hiring drive.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mangala Seshadri and Muthuram Govindarasu who ensured that we had a wonderful keynote speaker/ chief guest for the event and for helping us with the experts Pranitha and Sreedevi to plan and execute the hackathon on SAP Lumira. We thank Manjusha Nair and Meetha Maheshkumar for their support and guidance to bring the initiative in line with the D&I charter. Finally – thank you so much Dharani, Sreedevi and Pranitha for a great collaboration/ event/ camaraderie /… and we look forward to more such collaborations between SAP Labs colleagues, Early Talent and SAP University Alliances! |
