SAP AG, Walldorf
On January 21, 2013 the final successful presentation of the SAP HANA project in cooperation with students of the Economy master course at the University of Applied Sciences Ludwigshafen took place at SAP’s headquarters in Walldorf, Germany. 21 students and their Professor Dr. Klaus Freyburger run great presentations of their SAP HANA projects.
The first kick-off already took place in March last year at the University of Applied Sciences Ludwigshafen where the students started to work out the project plans and later on in May hold a mid-term review. In June 2012 the students from the presented the preliminary results of their semester project.
Since then selected students from the university were invited to share their results with the UA community EMEA during the SAP Academic Conference EMEA in Dresden in September 2012, and in Madrid at the SAPPHIRE NOW/SAP TechEd conferences where they have been an important part of the UNICEF dashboard competition. Impressive highlights for the engaged German students.
In the final presentation this week Walldorf the 21 students with deep SAP HANA involvement and by now deep HANA skills were invited to present the following topics based on the projects:
Final Student SAP HANA Project Presentation in Walldorf on January 21, 2013
The final results presentation also included new scenarios the students analyzed in addition to the SAP HANA Sentiment Analysis. The project called „Sentiment Analysis powered by SAP HANA” was about the analysis of unstructured data of the social networks Facebook and Twitter by means of the newest memory technology SAP HANA. For the chosen application scenario „US Presidential Poll 2012” 11 million relevant Tweets were identified during the course of the project. SAP BusinessObjects Data Services was used for the “text analysis” to estimate the “Sentiment” of the different contributions.
The University of Ludwigshafen uses curricula and software for teaching purposes since 1994. The close cooperation of the university with SAP exists at different levels including: curriculum development, student trainees, thesis and graduates at SAP, and former SAP colleagues as professors.
"The cooperation between the University of Applied Sciences Ludwigshafen and SAP University Alliances has been a long tradition; for both sides it is a big success story. In addition to the strong connection in teaching between the theory and the praxis, there are a high number of final theses achieved in a SAP environment and many graduates start their professional careers directly at SAP, in the SAP Ecosystem or at a SAP customer. The current project “Sentiment Analysis” was an excellent opportunity to work at red-hot questions directly with the newest technology HANA and it was done with a great amount of motivation by the students”
