SAP UA Visits The Hasso-Plattner-Institute in Computer Science for Africa (HPI in CS4A) at UCT in South Africa in June 2015

Kwena Mabotja and De Wet Naude visited the Hasso-Plattner-Institute in Computer Science for Africa (HPI in CS4A) in South Africa on the 3rd of June 2015. The purposes of the visit was to introduce faculty members to the UA portfolio and identify potential areas of collaboration. Anne Kayem who is the HPI CS4A head of department, together with Melissa Densmore attended the meeting. 

For the discussion the following points and/or action items were derived:

  • Work with HPI and Industry to identify real-world problems that PhD students can base their research on;
  • Plan a workshop with academic staff and industry participants to better understand the needs of industry and the challenges of preparing students to enter the workplace.

SAP UA intends to work further with HPI in CS4A on these areas.
