It’s no secret: Technology is changing faster than most businesses can manage. Well-trained talent is increasingly scarce, and digital skills gaps keep getting wider. To keep up with the ongoing changes in talent and technology, both learners and organizations need to be agile and adaptive to keep pace with the competition.

At SAP, our mission is to create opportunity through learning and development for all. And with the need for fast and comprehensive upskilling, we are transforming our SAP Certification program, making continuous learning a priority. That way, you can always prove you’re up-to-date with the latest innovations.

Here’s what this means for you:

Get certified with trusted certifications, tailored to your role.

Transforming our certification approach means making things easier for you. Demonstrate intermediate or advanced skills with out of over 80 globally recognized role- and product-based certifications across key SAP solution innovation areas. Focusing on the core skills and competencies, our role-based certifications, like this one for SAP S/4HANA Cloud implementation consultants, make your skillset more valuable as it gains sustainability and more relevance for longer periods of time.
Good news: the enhanced SAP Learning Hub includes four certification exam attempts per subscriber per year and all learning resources to prepare for the certification exams. In addition, you can also purchase one or six SAP Certification exam attempts to get certified.

Stay certified and keep your skills up to date with the latest innovations.

As a second step in our certification transformation, we are focusing on opportunities for you to keep your skills sharp. As of this April, certified learners need to continuously keep their skills up-to-date and certifications valid with evolving products by completing mandatory assessments before their certification expires. With an SAP Learning Hub subscription, you can prepare for and take the stay certified assessments at any time during the validity period of your certification.

The standard validity of certifications is 12 months, with an initial validity end date of March 31, 2025. Every time you complete an assessment to stay certified, the validity period extends by 12 months. Easy enough, right?

For sure! So, this is how you can keep your certifications valid:

  1. Log into the ‘My Learning’ page with your SAP Universal ID (Note: your SAP Universal ID must be linked with a secondary email account from another email domain provider)
  2. With a click on “Certifications” section you will find your passed certification(s) with the respective validity date.
  3. Access the enablement materials that are linked to prepare for the stay certified assessment. You need an SAP Learning Hub subscription to access stay certified assessment.
  4. Take the stay certified assessment linked to your certification. Once successfully passed, the new validity date of your certification will be updated.

If you are already certified in an SAP solution, you will receive a personalized email informing you about the required next steps to ensure that you don’t miss your certification expiry date. So don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

We truly believe that the redesigned SAP Certification program will make it easier and faster for you to get and stay certified, to identify next career steps and goals, and ensure you have the latest skills and valid credentials on the newest SAP innovations tailored to your role and responsibility. With a subscription to the enhanced SAP Learning Hub, you can have access to all the learning resources you need to get and stay certified in one place. So why don’t you set yourself up for success?

Hi Suzanne, thanks for sharing the change of certification. May I ask what would happen if failing to pass the stay certification assessment at first time. Will my certification be directly invalidated, or can I still keep taking the assessment until passing it, if so, is there a limit on number of attempts?

Hi @Alan_Wang when you fail the assessment to stay certified you can try it again. There are unlimited trials possible for the assessment. When you failed I would recommend that you dive deeper into the content to prepare for the assessment and then do a second try.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing this information.

Can you please inform us how this changes are affecting certifications for SuccessFactors?

For a certification, we used to take 2 stay current exams each year (corresponding to the releases). Each of them are mandatory to keep the certification valid.

How the new validity term (12 months) will apply in our scenario?

Thank you in advance for the clarifications!

Best regards,

Alexandra

Hi @Ale_Comsa yes this is also replacing the known stay current process for SAP SuccessFactors where in the past certified consultant had been asked to keep their certifications valid twice per year.

So from now on for all SAP Certifications - including SAP SuccessFactors the certification is valid for 12 month and can be extended by passing the corresponding assessment within this 12 month to extend for another 12 month.

Hi @Suzanne_Heiob, what will be the difference of the new assessment and old assessment?

For example, old assessment focuses on the information from new release, is it the same for new assessment but covers past 2-3 releases?

What is the passing rate of new assessment? Old assessment requires 100% passing rating if no. of question below a threshold. How about the new assessment?

Thanks,

Carson

Hi @CarsonWongIVC yes the assessements cover the delta of how the product/solution you are certified in evolved over the last releases. There is usually content to prepare for the assessments offered in addition or a live session. The assessment pass rate is 80% and you have unlimited trials.

Hi @Suzanne_Heiob,

I certainly agree with this development for keeping our certifications up-to-date. Great move!

What about those of us who don’t have the resources to pay for an annual Learning Hub subscription but want to keep our certifications current and not expire prematurely?

Thanks, Simon

Hi @Abhik30251

it really depends on the role and with this on the solution or product you need to consult about or develop. As you mention HR consultant I would suggest you check out the learning journeys that are targeted for the topic "Human Capital Management" and Lead to a Certification:

Browse SAP Learning Journeys

At the end of each Learning Journey you find the corresponding certification that this journey prepares for.

Is there any possibility of taking some type of test exam for certification?

I have only been able to find some demo questions, but is there a way to practice with test examples?

Thank you in advance!!  🙂

Hello @Cristobal_Lopez ,

sure on every certification page you find on the top the so called "View sample questions":

for example here:

Suzanne_Heiob_0-1716474559248.png

These are small example tests, usually around 10-15 questions, that should familiarize you with the testing environment, the type of questions you can expect during the exam, and the language style of those questions.

This should help you feel more confident about starting the first trial. Remember, you have three trials, so when you fail the first one, it's no drama. It will provide you with more insights about which topic areas you should focus your enablement on for the second trial.

Hi Suzanne,

I have some queries regarding the assessment:

1. Will it be a proctored exam?

2. What will be the duration?

3. How many questions will there be?

4. Will there only be MCQs like in the SAP certification (proctored) exam?

5. Could you please help with some sample questions?

Thank you very much in advance!

Hello @Krutika_More,

happy to answer your questions:

So when you want to stay certified and extend your certification validity with the assessment it will be:

1. not proctored. It is a quizz that you can do with unlimited trails anytime.

2. it will take you about 30 minutes to answer the questions.

3. there will be around 8-12 questions to answer.

4. and yes, there will be multiple-choice questions to answer.

5.  the sample questions are offered to prepare for the bigger certification exam.

You find it on the certification pages next to the cut score information on the top of the screen when clicking on "View sample questions" . For example here:

Hello @papos852 ,

If you are looking for a professional certification in SAP SuccessFactors, you will not find it on My Learning -> Certifications. As those Professional levels are not based on an exam but require project experience, they have not been in the scope of the first wave to migrate. Nevertheless, we are working on a solution to migrate those professional-level certifications as well.

@Suzanne_Heiob , thank you for the blog with lots of information. Can I please clarify some points I could not find in the blog nor in the comments and responses please.

1. So far I have been receiving emails notifying me, when the new 'stay current' exam was ready so that I can take it and remain certified. The email included link to the material and exam. Do I understand correctly that when the new exam is ready I will continue to be notified in the same manner; i.e. with exam and study materials link towards the end of my certification expiry date?

2. As I have not received any email notification, do I assume correctly that the new exam is not ready yet? My certification will expire on 31.03.2025. Where can I find the exam and materials to study for the exam?

3. Do I understand correctly that it makes sense to take exam closer to the current certification expiry as the certification will be extended for 12 months from when I take exam? For example if my certification expires 31.03.2025, I am better of taking the exam close to end of March 2025 to get the certification extended to March 2026. If I took the exam now (July 2024), my certification would only be extended to July 2025?

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you very much.

Hi @PetraRana,

thanks for the nice feedback! Please find here the answers to your questions:

1. Yes you will receive notification reminders 2 weeks before your expiry due date that reminds you take extend the validity of your certification. This will link you to  “Certifications” where you find your certification. With a click on "Manage Certification," you will find the corresponding content to prepare for the assessment, and with "Take assessment," you will reach the assessment. You will find there always the most up to date relevant content. We aim to also inform you when new content will be added but today you will only receive email reminders when your due date is coming up

2. Yes as your due date is 31.03.2025 there will be no notification before early March 2025. But it make sense that you - for example when you know already that you will be on a longer vacation around March - might to go “Certifications” earlier than that and take the assessment to extend it for another 12 month to be on the save side to not forget your due date. The materials are attached to your certification on "Manage Certification" For example:

Suzanne_Heiob_0-1719844596116.png

With a click on "Manage certification," you find the section "Prepare for stay certified assessment," which links to the self-paced course and—when available—also a live session. With "Take assessment," you reach the assessment.

3. Yes it make sense to take the assessment early. The stay certified due date is the day when your certification expires so you should take the assessment latest the day before - but to be on the save side it is better to do it earlier and  - as said - you will receive notification reminders 2 weeks upfront. In case of vacation, intense project work or so it might make sense to even do it much earlier to extend for 12 month whenever you have a free hour to do so.

Kind Regards, Suzanne

Hi!
I can't seem to find where the certifications are for non-implementation consultants. As an admin in the system, we also want to be as certified as possible but without the provisioning access of course.

Are there any certifications of that kind? I was looking for one for Performance and Goals in SuccessFactors but could only find ones for implementation consultants. And I also found some learning journeys based on role (developer, administrator etc.) but those were too basic as we want to learn more about how we build in the system.

If there aren't any of that kind, we would really like there to be since there's so much admins can do without provisioning and it would be great if there were learning journeys/certificates for that.

Dear Suzanne,

I have passed my C_SACS Story design in SAC exam in October 2023 and C_SACP - Planning in SAC in January 2024. Since the last changes in the certification process my previously taken exams are retired, and there is only new C_SAC - SAP Certified Associate - Data Analyst - SAP Analytics Cloud certification. Both of the old certificates are valid for 5 years. I have 2 questions:

1. Do I need to pass the new certification exam for C_SAC until march 2025 to stay current?

2. As I passed C_SACS with my business user profile, and C_SACP with my personal user profile, how can I take the delta exam, because in my personal user account I don't have license for the Learning hub, and for the business user account, I do have license for the Learning hub, but don't have the 2 certificates for C_SAC and C_SACP at the same profile (I took only the certificate for C_SACS with my business user profile).

I hope I was able to describe my problem comprehensibly.

Dear @MDraganov ,

thanks for your question. So please find here the answers:

1. Do I need to pass the new certification exam for C_SAC until march 2025 to stay current?

Yes like mentioned in the SAP Certification Recommendation on page 11 and page 12 both will retire 31.03.2025 and in order to stay certified you need to take C_SAC.

So the first thing you need to do is to setup a Universal ID and add all of your users that hold the certifications to this Universal ID (see here how to do it: Kickstart your learning with bite-sized onboarding videos (sap.com)). Then you need valid attempts. If you have a valid CER006 or CER001 that still has valid attempts you can use them. But the users that hold this license has to be added to the Universal ID as well. If you do not have valid attempts you need to get SAP Learning Hub. then please book your slot on SAP Certified Associate - Data Analyst - SAP Analytics Cloud. When you passed the certification you will be issued with a new digital badge that can be extended everytime you stay certified on My Learning Certifications (sap.com)

Hi @Swetha_CH, so not sure to which of the C4C certifications you refer to exactly but these are the 2 we offer so far:

https://learning.sap.com/certifications/sap-certified-associate-implementation-consultant-sap-servic...

On the individual certification pages on your find on the top the "Sample Questions" that provide you with some sample questions to look at. In the "How to prepare" section the corresponding Learning Journeys are linked to prepare for the exam.

Hi @Suzanne_Heiob@Rebecca_Bottomley

I just passed my SAP Certification, which is valid until August 2, 2025. If I take the Stay Certified exam very early, say on August 3, 2024, will it extend my certification for another year from the original expiry date, meaning it will be valid until August 2, 2026? Or does "extend validity for 1 year" mean it will be extended for one year from the date I take the Stay Certified assessment? So, if I took it on August 3, 2024, it would just be extended for one day, from August 2, 2025, to August 3, 2025?

Please help clarify. Thank you.

Dear @heart_rinoa

so yes everytime you pass the assessment to stay certified it will extend the validity of your certification for another 12 month starting when you have passed the assessment the last time. So in your example when you take the assessment on August 3, 2024 it will extend the the validity to August 3, 2025. To be on the save side please then do not wait until the last day to extend further but the nice thing about staying certified is that you can extend anytime whenever you have free time.

Kind Regards, Suzanne
