This year, the Liceu Politecnic School (from Rubí, Barcelona) has deployed a FabLab@School in colaboration with Stanford University.
We have adapted the educational curriculum (subjects) in "Secundaria" (Medium & High School): Maths, Techno, History, Arts, Music, English,... to teach students how to build objects that help them to understand better the subjects.
FabLab@School project: Barcino
The students work in groups, sharing the experiences.
The subject of History places the context of the entire project. Specifically in the historical transition of the city of Barcelona. From Roman era (Barcino) to Barcelona SmartCity.
The goal
- We do not give to the students a script to copy.
- Students analyze the information, looking into the problem, making decisions, taking risks to provide a solution to be made (fabrication laboratory), using all the knowledge of the subjects involved.
- Learning is to introduce students to the reality and specific problems to solve.
Tools and hardware in the FabLab@School
- Laser cutter
- Vinyl cutter
- 3D Printer
- Arduino microcontrollers
Software in the FabLab@School
- Corel Draw
- Solid Works
- SAP Netweaver ABAP 7.4 SP2 on SAP MaxDB 7.9
Liceu Politecnic School & SAP University Alliances
In the last World Mobile Congress 2015 we did the Signing Ceremony, a collaboration agreement with SAP University Alliances.
Now, we teach SAP ABAP language in the FabLab@School to students of 12 years old. The students are learning, programming, how to solve calculation problems needed to make beautiful objects later.
Regards to all SAP University Alliances family,
