The Department of Computing Sciences of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth hosted the South African Computer Lecturers’ Association (SACLA) conference from Wednesday 25 June to Thursday 26 June 2014 at the Summerstrand Hotel in Port Elizabeth.

The South African Computer Lecturers’ Association (SACLA) has as its objective to promote co-operation among South African and Southern African Universities, specifically to further the method and contents of university education in the field of computers. The main activity of SACLA is the annual conference, at which issues concerning teaching and research in ICT in Southern Africa are discussed.

The theme for SACLA2014 is: “ICT Education in the Cyber World”. This is an ideal forum to promote SAP University Alliances and the programs we are running, such as ESEFA, Skills for Africa, the SA Student Academy and the Student Entrepreneurship Programme.

SAP University Alliances was a co-sponsor of the event and presented their product and service portfolio, together with new offerings from SAP Education to universities, such as the recently launched Learning Hub (Student Edition) and the SAP Student Academy.  With these, SAP offers curricula to the university sector through the provision of high-value, electronic learning content ultimately leading to SAP certifications.
