The shift to cloud computing has undoubtedly changed the way organizations carry out their HR operations. For SAP users, the cloud-based future of Human Capital Management lies in the SAP SuccessFactors solution.

That is also why the maintenance period for SAP Business Suite 7 (ECC) and the previous SAP ERP HCM system as an on-premise solution ends on December 31, 2027. If you are already operating the SAP HCM solution in the Compatibility Pack (CP) with SAP S/4HANA, the usage rights will end on December 31, 2025. As a result, the SAP Certification SAP Certified Associate - SAP HCM for S/4HANA (C_THR12) will be discontinued on March 31, 2025. You can find the planned retirement date on the certification website. Certified users will stay certified for 12 months after the certification retirement. The final due date will be visible on My Learning Certifications (sap.com). Please also note that the academies THR10 and THR12 a– the trainings to prepare for the certification, will be discontinued by the end of Q1, 2025.

But don’t worry about the retirement! To ensure you stay on top of your HR game, SAP stepped up and continues to launch future-focused earning and enablement resources for you, making sure you excel in a cloud-first HR world. On the SAP Learning site, you can find tailored, bite-sized learning and certification opportunities for the SAP SuccessFactors solution, including topics like recruiting, workforce analytics and planning, talent management, payroll, and more. Hello Anne,

I just found this after seeing the tag added to the certification in the SAP certification hub. To be honest, I do not understand this decision and also the way this is announced.

In the widely communicated SAP certification transition which went effective on April 1st, this SAP HCM certification was renamed to SAP HCM for S/4HANA and listed among the certifications which will be continued. Even today the related web page lists this certification as one which will be continued under the new certification approach.

Also the reason given in your post does not fit for me. Yes, the HCM compatibility pack for S/4 will go out of maintenance end of '25 but the SAP HCM for S/4 HANA on premise has a maintenance duration currently guaranteed till end of 2040! The related training courses are still required. A whole generation of consultants but also of experts on customer side are currently retiring. At the same time thousands of customers must transition from ECC to SAP HCM for S/4 HANA as the capabilities of SAP's cloud solutions is still far away from what we need, esp. in the payroll and time area. Partners and customers need to educate new people for the at least 15 years ahead of us. SuccessFactors training and certifications do not help us here.

Instead of retiring these courses, we urgently need a rework of the HR### and the THR10/12 content so it is ready for SAP HCM for S/4HANA. References to Windows Vista and SAP R/3 4.6, screen shots from 1998 show that SAP has not invested into maintaining these training courses for years. Fiori is not mentioned a single time in any of the courses of the certification learning path.

Rgds.

Hi @romanweise

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns! The SAP HCM content covered in THR10 and THR12 will still be available via your SAP Learning Hub subscription or as Instructor-led customer courses (training.sap.com), meaning that you can still go back to the content whenever necessary to train. The SAP Certification SAP Certified Associate - SAP HCM for S/4HANA (C_THR12) will be discontinued on March 31, 2025, but be a part of the get & stay certified program until then. New certifications and learning journeys will continue to be launched on the SAP Learning site. Feel free to check out those future-focused opportunities!

Which is the equivalent course for C_THR12, if it gets discontinued on March 31, 2025?

The question raised above also interests me. Why isn’t the "learning path" for this certification being adjusted? That would answer many questions.Does it still make sense for me to delve into this topic? My certification is planned for May 2025. Would be nice to her from you...
